What is Code Lyoko?
Code Lyoko is a French animated series that aired on France (France 3 & Canal J), U.S. (Cartoon Network), and on various countries around the world. The original airing of the series ran from 2004 to 2007 and there is no official word if there will be any continuing episodes after its 4th Season ending up to this point. The series is currently off the air for both France and the U.S. but the series still airs on other parts of the world today.
Code Lyoko tells the story of four students of a boarding school in France, Kadic (Junior High) Academy - Jeremie Belpois, Ulrich Stern, Odd Della Robbia, and Yumi Ishiyama - leading double lives as virtual heroes in the world of Lyoko and as boarding (or day students, in Yumi's case) students of Kadic Academy.
The series generally follows their adventures as they try to rescue both a virtual being trapped in Lyoko - Aelita - and both the worlds of Lyoko and Earth from a virtual being bent on world domination: X.A.N.A. With the help of a mysterious super computer installed at an abandoned car factory nearby Kadic (Junior High) Academy, the heroes are able to travel, or in this case, virtualize, to the mysterious cyberspace world of Lyoko, and armed with sophisticated weapons and signature powers, the heroes battle intricately dangerous monsters that X.A.N.A. created as its army and in the end of each mission, they seal the virtual gateway known as a tower to close access between Lyoko and Earth and a reverse trip back to the past before X.A.N.A.'s planned attack on Earth began.
Radio Play Summary
In this radio play, Jeremie and Aelita are graduate IT students at INRIA, pending graduation. Meanwhile, Ulrich is the soccer coach of Kadic (Junior High) Academy, Yumi is a private vocal teacher, and Odd is a street painter in the La Defense district and a part-time gymnastics instructor.
On the day before Jeremie and Aelita graduate, Aelita gets into a car accident. Rushed to the nearby hospital, Jeremie calls on their friends after twelve years without contact as Aelita goes through surgery. The reunion calls on old memories and a friendship that never seemed to die out, proving that distance does make the heart grow fonder.
Voices of Lyoko is a 26-episode radio play production. It was mostly created to cover up plotholes in the original storyline, such as Project Carthage and character background stories. These fan-written stories are presented as flashbacks of the adult Code Lyoko characters, each episode containing one memory through the eyes of one adult character.
